Jewellery that centres spirituality and self-love in every piece. Designed to help you feel held, seen, and beautifully yourself.
meet the founder
Hi, I’m Sharifah, the founder of Oshun’s Vanity. I create jewellery for soulful souls who want to feel grounded in their own beauty — and who feel called to adornment as a form of spiritual symbolism.
a journey to harmony
A neurodivergent brain and mental health challenges led me to seek calm and belonging, which I found in 2020 through jewellery making — the slow, tactile act of creating beauty with my hands. This practice opened a spiritual doorway to the orishas and ancestral spirits of Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean.
As my memory became less reliable, jewellery became my way to remember their teachings. The same neurodivergent traits that make it hard to retain words help me remember what I can see and touch, turning each piece into a visual anchor for their lessons.
From this, Oshun’s Vanity emerged: a way to honour spirit, soothe the mind, celebrate the body, and transform slipping memories into something visible, sacred, and wearable.
the meaning behind the name
Oshun’s Vanity is named after Oshun — the revered river deity born in the lands of the Yoruba people, in what is now southwestern Nigeria and parts of Benin and Togo, whose energy of love, beauty, sensuality, and sweet waters is praised across the African diaspora.
Inspired by her presence, each piece is handmade to help you move through the world in the flow of your own captivating beauty — inside and out.
why oshun?
I didn’t just name my brand after Oshun — I felt like she chose me. Even before I knew her story, I was drawn to golden brass, flowing shapes, and sunlit yellows that all belonged to her world.
Oshun, Orisha of love, beauty, and sweetness, reminded me of the divine feminine allure I carry within myself. She isn’t shy about her beauty — she owns it. Oshun’s Vanity was born to help you do the same, turning jewellery into tiny talismans of myth, escapism, and sacred self-adornment.
honouring deities and mother earth
Rooted in non‑pierced body jewellery and now blossoming into a wider world of adornment, each piece is inspired by Mother Earth and Indigenous spiritual beliefs, honouring the deities and spirits I’ve met along my journey.
As a divine babe of Caribbean descent, this is my way of reclaiming ancestral knowledge that has been taken from us and strengthening my bond with the sacred deities and spirits that guide me.
Whether you’re reconnecting with ancestral traditions or simply seeking a daily reminder of your sacredness, there’s a piece here meant to move with you.
