Aja, the soul of the forest, is revered as the Orisha of healing and herbal medicine, and is deeply respected among the Yoruba people. Aja is regarded as the patron of herbalists and healers.

With her profound knowledge of plants and their medicinal properties, her followers wander in the forest until they are lost. Those she chooses are believed to receive the gift of healing and may embark on a spiritual "forest journey," where she guides her followers to learn the medicinal secrets of herbs and roots.
