The inspiration

The Caribbean’s Aphrodite, Caguana, is the spirit of love and affection and one of the divine manifestations of the Taino's peoples supreme mother deity, Atabey.

One of two supreme deities to the Taino people, Abetay was the maternal spirit of Earth and was revered as the goddess of the moon, fresh water, and fertility. She manifested as multiple manifestations: the nurturer, the lover 'Caguana', and ‘Guabancex,’ a darker warrior controlling the storms, volcanoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes.
