The inspiration

In Taino mythology, Guabancex is the feminine zemi (spirit) of the Caribbean and one of the divine manifestations of the Taino people's supreme mother spirit, Atabey. When angered, she is a ferocious warrior who controls storms, volcanoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes. She commands Guatauba, her junior, to call upon fellow spirits to borrow their winds, creating an unmatched force that uproots homes and trees from the ground.
